Nu-Clear (pronounced New-Clear) is made up of Ryan Gillmor
(lead vox, guitar), Keir Johnson (bass), Art
Padilla (guitar, backup vox), and Julian Mendoza
(drums).
Nu-Clear has played in front of more than 120,000 teens at over 60 West
Coast high schools in the last eight months, selling more than 5,000 units.
They’ve shared the stage with such bands as ImARobot, Die Trying,
Simon Sez, Oleander, Never Heard of It, Looking Star (formerly Sweet Vine),
Mind Driver, The Matches, Short Bus/Long Beach Dub All Stars and more.
Working to get their music heard, Nu-Clear has received movie soundtrack
placement, “No Pain No Gain” (Zuker Films) television sitcom
placement (Warner Brother’s Network show, “Summerland,”
7/13/04 and for Lifetime Television’s show, “Missing“),
and television commercials shot for local Warner Brother’s syndicate
(WB58 10/04). Radio stations spin the groups material regularly on Sacramento
radio stations KRXQ 98 Rock, KWOD 106.5, HOWARD 93.7, KDND 107.9 The End,
91.5 KYDS as well as Modesto’s B93.1, the Bay Area’s LIVE
105, KVHS, and KDVS Davis.
Recent accomplishments include a second nomination for best punk/rock
band in the Sacramento region, (Sacramento Area Music Awards) with a win
in 2003 in the same category, compilation spots on Sacramento’s
“Unplugged” CD and KRXQ 98 Rock‘s, “Sac Rocks
Vol. 11,” earning a headlining spot on the California State Fair’s
main stage, and being 98 Rock’s Artist of the Month in March 2004,
with their name now gracing the walls of the Sacramento Rock and Radio
Museum. If they’re not on the road, they’re in the studio.
Nu-Clear’s first full-length CD, “ThreeSum,” was released
in October 2002 with the help of multi-platinum recording artist Frank
Hannon (TESLA). This was followed by the August 2003 release of their
second CD, “Fourplay.” Their latest full length CD, “Focus”
was released to a sold out crowd in Sacramento on November 20, 2004 and
sold a thousand units in the first two months of its release. “Focus”
can be found in all major record stores in the Sacramento area including
Dimple records, Tower Records, Borders, and Virgin Megastore. Nu-Clear
continues to write and record with a fourth release scheduled for early
summer ‘05.
