The Mobile Skatepark Series heads to the California State Fair at the
end of August. All events are FREE to the public. There will be food,
prizes and give-aways throughout the days.
There will be six distinct competition elements featured during the four-day
MSS festival. The schedule and a brief description follows (you can also
view the detailed daily schedule):
Open Skatepark: Kids from all over will have the chance
to skate with their heroes on the same street course that the pros use.
The ramps are designed and created by the same folks that build the X
Games courses. Two-hour sessions cost $8. Pads and helmets are available
for rental for an additional $2. All participants will be required to
sign a waiver. A parent or legal guardian will also have to sign
for participants under 18 years old. The waiver
can be downloaded from this website.
Pro Freestyle BMX Competition: More than 40 of the world's
top pro freestyle BMXers will compete in street course and halfpipe competitions
for prize money and a chance to qualify for the U.S. Championships of
BMX at the LG Action Sports Championships this fall.
Pro Skateboarding Demo and Best Trick Contest: More than
20 of the world's top pro skateboarders will perform four 40-minute street
course and vert demos and compete in two Best Trick contests. Both of
these events will allow the top pros to show off their cutting-edge stunts
in a session-style format that allows the pros to compete at their own
pace.
Amateur Skateboarding Contest: Amateur skateboarders from
all over will have the chance to compete in the Next
Cup Skateboarding Amateur Series contest. The event will be judged
by pro skateboarders and will offer local and regional amateurs the chance
to qualify for The Next Cup Finals at the LG
Action Sports Championships in September.
Inline Pro Tour: The ASA Pro Tour is the global competition
series for all of the top pro aggressive skaters. More than 50 pros from
as many as 15 different countries will compete in both street skating
and vert skating competition. The competition is one of a select few events
for coveted spots in the LG
Action Sports Championships in September.
Inline Amateur Circuit Contest: Amateur inline skaters
will compete for a chance to qualify for the World Amateur Championships
and the opportunity to turn pro in 2005. This is an open contest to any
amateur skater. Pre-registration is strongly recommended as these contests
typically sell-out. Pre-registration will be available through the website
in the coming weeks.
The event will be televised on Fox Sports Net in the form of 7
hours of programming covering different MSS elements and will be seen
in 180 countries around the world. The programs will air every Friday
starting in August from 4:00 - 5:00 PM and from 1:00 - 2:00 AM. View
