events are FREE to the public.
There will be food, prizes and give-aways throughout
the days.
There will be six distinct competition elements featured during the five-day MSS festival. The schedule and a brief description follows (you can also view the detailed daily schedule):
August 28 and 29, Open Skatepark: Enthusiasts from all over the Northeast will have the chance to skate with their heroes on the pros street course and half-pipe. The ramps are designed and created by the same folks that build the X Games courses. This is the only event in the world that allows local skaters to use the ramps with the pros.
August 29 - 30, ASA Amateur Circuit Contest: Top amateur inline skaters will compete for a chance to qualify for the World Amateur Championships and the opportunity to turn pro in 2004. This is an open contest to any amateur skater who lives in the Northeastern US.
August 30, ASA Pro Tour: The ASA Pro Tour is the global competition series for all of the top pro aggressive skaters. More than 50 pros from as many as 15 different countries will compete in both street skating and vert skating competition. The competition is one of only six qualifier events for coveted spots in the X Games, the Gravity Games and the World Championships.
August 31, Pro Freestyle BMX Demo and Best Trick Contest: More than 20 of the world's top pro freestyle BMXers will perform four 40-minute street and vert riding demos and compete in two Best Trick contests. Both of these events will allow the top pros to show off their most darling stunts in a session-style format that allows the pros to compete at their own pace.
September 1, Pro Skateboarding Demo and Best Trick Contest: More than 20 of the world's top pro skateboarders will perform four 40-minute street skating and vert skating demos and compete in two Best Trick contests. Both of these events will allow the top pros to show off their cutting-edge stunts in a session-style format that allows the pros to compete at their own pace.
September 1, Amateur Skateboarding Contest: 60 of the top amateur skateboarders from all over the Northeast will have the chance to compete in a World Cup Skateboarding Amateur Series contest. The event will be judged by top pro skateboarders and will offer local and regional amateurs the chance to 'audition' for a spot on the World Cup Skateboarding pro tour.
The event will be televised on Fox Sports Net in the form of 7 hours of programming covering different MSS elements and will be seen in 180 countries around the world. The programs will air every Friday from October 3 - 25 from 4:00 - 5:00 PM and from 1:00 - 2:00 AM.
